Round 1 (by bus-mechanic)

Ok so you’re not gonna fuckin believe this. Today at work one of the units, #203, to be exact was found leaning on the lot. LEANING! This was unacceptable so I told my fellow coworkers that it needs to be fixed, I did not want to do it because replacing a rear air bag is a bitch. So we brought it in and started to lift it up on our lifts, they cost $40,000 and there’s 4 of them you can see them here. If you want the product literature you can download it here. Ok so anyway our lifts fucking own they hold like 15k lbs each and there’s 4, again they cost $40,000 and they own. Ok so we lifted the bus up and put big jack stands under the rear part of the frame and then lowered the rear axle as to have access to the bags. The air bags are made by Goodyear and are probably the worst manufactured pieces of rubber I have ever seen. They dry rot pretty fast and blow out occasionally, and love to leak. So we took the 2 clevis pins out of the bottom and lowered the axle as to free the bag, then we took the air line off and the 4 bolts holding it on, this requires some stretching because it’s jammed in there. We then took the back shock off in order to get the bag out with ease. We took it out changed the fittings and put the new one in and thought to ourselves “this will last 3 weeks.” So we aired it up and it was level again. Then we lowered the bus down with our lifts and started it up and drove out and parked it on the lot. It was a hard days work but someone’s gotta do it.
